Situated in northeastern Tanzania, Kilimanjaro Region is bordered by Kenya in the north. The area consists of two parts: one situated on the leeward side of the mountain is dry and semi–arid while the other part, the lowlands, is warmer, drier, and less densely populated by humans but with a large number of animals. In pursuit of one of his dreams, Walt Disney wanted to have live animals in the Jungle Cruise ride at Magic Kingdom; unfortunately, this was not possible. Nevertheless, Kilimanjaro Safari stands as a testament to the triumph of Disney Imagineering in fulfilling one of Walt’s desires.
